To Ski Or Not To Ski

I am now 3 weeks post-ACL-op and the question that I’ve been pondering on and off since the surgery is whether I plan to ski again in the future. It’s hardly worth thinking about now since summer is almost here and we won’t see a lick of snow for at least 7 months, or if next winter is anything like this past winter then we won’t see a snowflake for another 8-9 months. Whatever. I like to think about shit like this when I’m eating ice cream and watching The Amazing Race.

Over a bottle of wine, many a friend is found. – Yiddish proverb
We celebrated this past weekend. Not because it was Lunar New Year, but because it was our first ski trip of the season AND I got to do it with my awesome coworkers. Every year, my company rents condos for a weekend of (drunken) bonding. What sane person would turn down the slope-side location, free housing and the opportunity to sleep in very close confines with his/her coworkers?
With this winter being unusually warm, NB and I hadn’t been able to ski at all last December. Every winter, I look forward to hurtling down shimmering white hills with the cold wind grasping at me and my lungs filled with crisp, cold air. As my skiing improves every year, I am starting to crave the speed that is egged on by confidence, and the swoosh swoosh of carving down a monstrous trail brings on a huge endorphin rush.
